What did happen in Roswell in 1947? Well, it certainly wasn't a weather balloon. Rather, the approach taken by this dull, dour, sci-fi schlockpiece is that two aliens, one male and one female, emerged from the charred crash site in Roswell on a mission to destroy the human race. Seems some alien company wants the planet for their own purposes, but we'd only get in the way. Hence the destructive duo. But things take an odd turn when the male alien, posing as a scientist, develops feelings for the human race, especially when presented in the form of a beautiful woman, and has second thoughts about detonating the bomb meant to annihilate us. So it's a chick flick masquerading as a sci-fi thriller. Uses a lot of the same background music you heard on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, you know, to create all that suspense. The weather balloon theory was more interesting. --Jim Gay
